Customers Drive Updates to Secure Delivery Center 2012

Dallas, TX, Apr 05, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Genuitec, LLC, a founding member of the Eclipse Foundation, is revolutionizing the processes for delivering and sharing developer software in the enterprise with its Secure Delivery Center (SDC). Designed to keep IT projects on-time and on-budget by eliminating human errors in software management, SDC allows companies to centrally manage their Eclipse and OSS tooling stacks across teams - all behind corporate firewalls. Driven by customer requests, SDC has just released a key update to its lauded 2012 release.

"Customer needs around management of OSS change almost as rapidly as the source code itself," said Tim Webb, chief architect of SDC for Genuitec. "As an agile development organization ourselves, we're proud to respond to the changing environment at a pace unmatched by others." Historically, project managers have created wikis or lengthy emails to show their development teams what software to use, where to find that software, and how to install and update it so that it is properly configured for the upcoming project. Other iterations of the same behavior include uploading the needed tools and correct version numbers using zip files, CDs, and flash drives with documentation on how to get started on the project. Then, even if things are set up properly, the hassles of update timing and roll-out become ongoing, expensive concerns.

Today, SDC eliminates the need to do any of that work by instead empowering managers to create their own marketplace (or the Eclipse Marketplace) behind the company firewall. Once a company "owns" all the open source software it needs in one place (plus its own proprietary software), an IT manager sends each development team an installer with the exact software they need to get started on a project. This helps developers move from project to project with the exact tools they need, and drastically cuts down on the time required to apply updates and overall tool stack management.

The SDC 2012 Update 1 includes: 1. New End User Catalog (including an updated "Certified Eclipse Plugin Pack") 2. New End User Menu 3. More Detailed Third Party Libraries 4. New Delivery Groups 5. New Environmental Policies 6. New Web Installation Flow 7. Enhanced Web Portal 8. Automatic Update of Admin Console 9. Improved Server Performance 10. New Authentication Extension Details on each of these updates along with helpful graphics can be found here: http://www.genuitec.com/blog/?p=4217 Secure Delivery Center is ready out-of-the-box for installation, and it requires only a few, easy questions answered about company policies and software governance before acting as an inside-the-firewall Eclipse and MyEclipse management tool.

Granularity in its reporting give a clear and concise understanding of how Eclipse or MyEclipse is used, what tool stacks and versions work the best on each project, and which configurations are successful in project development.

SDC starts at only about $45 per developer. Contact sales(at)genuitec(dot)com for more details.
