Outsourcing services gives organizations cost cutting measures and improved customer service without having to make large investments. With so many available global service providers, companies have many options when it comes to choosing the right company to give their customers the best service available. While India and the Philippines have been leading the way in this industry, near-shoring has been gaining popularity by companies looking for service providers that are in close proximity to where they are based. The Caribbean is increasingly becoming a viable alternative for business process outsourcing (BPO) services because of its location, and a native English-speaking population.
A recruiting campaign by Island Outsourcers, a provider of contact center and back office operations in a variety of industries on Grand Bahama Island, was recently overwhelmed by the number of applicants looking to apply for the Jamaican-based firm.
The business process outsourcing (BPO) firm has expanded its call center services to Grand Bahama Island, and is actively recruiting 100 employees as part of its first phase of operations. A total of 1200 applicants were screened to fill the available positions as the company looks to expand its services in the region, and it expects it will eventually have more than 600 employees.
The company was recruiting call center agents, business unit supervisors, workforce managers, training managers, and operations managers with a minimum of five General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) credits, with computer proficiency and other valuable skills.
Many of the company's customers are in the travel and tourism industry. The new facility will provide services for companies based in the U.S. as well as other countries in the Americas. This includes the Ministry of Tourism of Grand Bahama Island, which is relocating from its Miami-based call center.
"Our location, tax free incentives, existing infrastructure, as well as the availability of a well-trained workforce, were all contributing factors to Grand Bahama being chosen as the ideal location for Island Outsourcers’ expansion at this time," said Ian Rolle, president of The Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited (GBPA).
Island Outsourcers provide services from their centers in Montego Bay Free-Zone in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and in Freeport Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas, with Tier 1 technology capable of competing with any outsourcing service provider around the world.
